Enhancing the Corporate Governance of Listed Companies
TSE-Listed Companies White Paper on Corporate Governance 2009
In order to make a multi-faceted and objective assessment of the circumstances and current progress of the corporate governance efforts of TSE listed companies as a whole, in January of 2009, the TSE conducted a comprehensive analysis of the current corporate governance situation of these companies and compiled the "TSE Listed Companies White Paper on Corporate Governance 2009."
From the perspective of respecting continuity of the data, concerning numerical values and trends found in this research, the White Paper provides comparisons with the findings of the White Paper on Corporate Governance 2007, wherever possible, to ensure comparability for the convenience of investors.
Through this White Paper, the TSE expects that parties involved in the market and many others will be able to understand the current situation of corporate governance, and that it will provide an engine for further promotion of corporate governance reform in Japan.

Principles of Corporate Governance for Listed Companies
The Principles of Corporate Governance for Listed Companies were formulated at the TSE in March of 2004 based on suggestions made by the Listed Company Corporate Governance Committee. Enhancing corporate governance should be accomplished though the voluntary efforts of listed companies combining with the appraisal of such by the shareholders and investors participating in the market, and the purpose of these Principles is to offer the foundation of common understanding necessary for doing so.
